Welcome to Bluewater State School — a small school with a big heart, where every child is known, valued and supported to achieve “Nothing but the Best".
At Bluewater, we pride ourselves on creating a safe, caring and inclusive environment where students feel connected and confident to challenge themselves, try new things and reach their full potential. Our staff genuinely care about every child and work hard to build strong relationships with students and families.
We are passionate about high-quality teaching and learning and have a strong focus on explicit instruction to ensure all students experience success. We know that strong reading skills are the foundation for lifelong learning, and we are committed to helping every student grow academically, socially and emotionally.
Students at Bluewater enjoy a wide range of opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. Specialist teachers provide engaging lessons in Japanese, The Arts and Health and Physical Education, while students are also encouraged to participate in sporting, cultural and academic events throughout the year.
The “Bluewater Way" reflects our love of the environment and our commitment to sustainability. Our students take great pride in caring for our school grounds and garden spaces and learning the importance of looking after the world around them.
Technology is an important part of learning at Bluewater State School. Our school has multiple sets of laptops and iPads that can be transported between classrooms, allowing students regular access to technology to support learning across all curriculum areas. These contemporary digital resources help students develop the important ICT skills they will need for the future.
We are proud of our strong Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) culture, where Respect, Responsibility and Resilience are explicitly taught and celebrated. As a recognised PBL Demonstration School, we work together as a school community to create consistent expectations and a positive environment where all students can thrive.
Bluewater students enjoy extensive outdoor play areas, including adventure playgrounds, a flying fox and a nature play space, and a variety of sporting opportunities through interhouse and interschool competitions and carnivals. Students in Years 3 to 6 also have the opportunity to participate in our instrumental music program, with expert tuition available in strings, brass, percussion and woodwind. We are proud to offer this program at no cost to families, ensuring all students have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and experience the many benefits that music education provides.
Leadership opportunities are highly valued at our school, with students in Years 5 and 6 encouraged to develop confidence, responsibility and teamwork through our student leadership programs. We also work closely with local high schools to support a smooth transition to secondary school.
We strongly value the partnership between home and school and believe education works best when families and staff work together. Parents and community members are always welcome at Bluewater, whether volunteering in classrooms, attending school events or supporting our active P&C Association.
Outside School Hours Care is available onsite through our partnership with Our Patch, with before school, after school and vacation care programs available for families. The onsite Bluewater C&K also helps support a positive transition into Prep, with Transition to Prep programs offered during Semester 2 each year.
Choosing a school for your child is an important decision and I feel very privileged to lead such a wonderful school community. I invite you to visit our school, meet our friendly staff and see firsthand what makes Bluewater such a special place to learn and grow.
We look forward to welcoming you and your family to the Bluewater community.
Kind regards,
Jackie Somerville
